Kolkata (India) is very close to my heart. I grew up there. I have fond memories of a city so rich in its culture – be it art, music, dance or theatre. So, when I came across Chobhi, which means ‘picture’ in Bengali, I was curious to know more.
Chobhi, the passion of two Bengalis, Ronjiny Basu and Tanima Majumdar, retails beautiful scarves. What makes them different? It is the lovely silhouettes from nature, printed onto soft organic fabric.
The scarves are designed by the duo, in their studio in Ottawa (Canada) and brought to life in New Delhi (India). They are available in different fabrics – from wool silk, organic cotton mulmul and pure silk chiffon.
One of my favourites from their collection is Patha – a green handwoven wool scarf, adorned with the photograph of a leaf. The other one on my wish list, is Papri, a pink silk chiffon scarf, embossed with a photograph of a dahlia flower. The Pakhi design, the brand owners claim, is the bestseller. I’m not surprised. This black and white scarf with the imagery of birds perched on a tree, is so chic!
If you are looking to add that extra feminine edge to your personal style, shop for their scarves at their online store at www.chobhi.com. They also retail in stores in Canada and Singapore.
