Recently, we scouted for some cake options for our daughters birthday, and this is one bakery you can’t go wrong with. The Patissier, which runs as a family enterprise, whips up some yummy cakes.
If you enjoy mousse- based cakes, The Patissier won’t disappoint. I know fondant is all the rage, but if you’re not a big fan of the ‘sugar paste’ like me, check out some of their delicious mousse based flavors.
Chef June, who has been with the bakery for eight years, recommends the strawberry shortcake and double chocolate praline as popular choices in mousse based cakes. Another choice is their signature cake – the Passion fruit Meringue (a best-seller) but owing to the fragile texture of the cake, don’t expect elaborate decorations. I haven’t tried all their options, but I recommend the decadent double chocolate praline and slightly light cocoa napoleon.
If looks totally matter, they do have the fondant options. They do some fanciful customizations for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. If you’re opting for fondant, they recommend dry cake flavors like red velvet, brownie or banana walnut cake, which work better with fondant as they don’t require refrigeration.
That said, you don’t always need an occasion to visit The Patissier. They have smaller bites too. Perfect for a post-dinner sugar fix.
