This is my second visit to Amu’s studio. Each time I visit, I fall in love with the lovely pieces of pottery adorning the shelves. This time it is to learn about the launch of KlayKit, a product that allows you to take clay education to your home.
Amu and her partner Sara who founded the Da Vinci Group have been promoting NeuroCeramics through workshops and classes, where kids learn about different techniques while working with clay. Amu poses below with one of her wonderful creations.
KlayKit TM boxes can become the perfect afternoon project, and a great family bonding exercise!
Amu and Sara are gracious hosts. They help us get comfortable and encourage us to begin working with clay. For a brief second I wonder, why not simple play dough? You will be able to tell the difference, only when you experience and feel the texture of the clay. It is therapeutic, and apparently helps ‘stimulate creative expression and heightens awareness.’
Each KlayKit TM is equipped with new tools and clay. A subscription provides you with four boxes in a month, where each time kids learn a new technique.
The launch of themed boxes, called ‘playbox’ is also in the works – a box designed on a fun theme.
Some really unique pieces come out of the workshop. To add colour to the mundane pieces of pottery, Amu suggests using acrylic paint (not provided in the boxes). The end product from a Klaykit box can adorn a shelf, but if you are looking for something to use at home, you will require the pottery piece to go through a kiln.
The fun bit would be to watch what the kids make. Their imaginative pieces truly add colour and happiness to any home!
Anything that your kids made lately that you fell in love with?
