The little onesie came packaged in a cute organic bag. I loved the lion on its cover, which is also the logo of the brand. Even before I could open the package, my little one who is exploring on her fours now, decided to dig into the contents! And this time around, the package was appropriate for her.
So yes, Baby Hero is a baby clothing company based in Hong Kong, which designs clothes made of organic cotton fabric. Organic not only works best for the environment, but is also delicate on baby skin, that deserves the best quality fabric.
I love the no bells and whistles approach of the brand. Their baby and toddler clothing in solid colours, are available in the conventional blue and pink. They have a range in white, with a border stitching in orange, blue, pink and yellow. The fabric remains soft and comfortable even after several washes. And given that its 100% cotton, it is completely breathable.
So here’s the story. Two young mums – Samar Shaheryar and Alicia Wieser, started Baby Hero. Like many start-ups, where ideation happens under the most random circumstances, Baby Hero too, was launched while sharing mommy notes over playdates! While sharing their experiences on complicated childbirth, they both realized a similar passion for starting a company that supports mothers and newborns in the developing world.
The clothing is designed by the founders in Hong Kong, and production takes place in Tirrupur, South India, which is a major hub for cotton knitwear production.
The founders are also passionate about giving back to society. Hence with each Baby Hero product sold, a life saving medical intervention kit is donated to a mother and her baby in Pakistan. Later this year, the plan is to distribute these kits in Kenya, says Alicia. For details on their what each kit contains check this out.
