Deer Industries: Kids Furniture and More

April 25, 2017 By: Preeti Khichacomment

Hidden away on level 7 of furniture haven Tan Boon Liat, Deer Industries is the perfect one-stop store for mommies looking to do up a baby nursery, furnish a kids room or create a comfortable pad for their teenagers.

I visit one afternoon to review some of the products at the showroom, and I fall in love with the owner’s well-curated collection of products. Founder, Joyce Coenraads was inspired by similar stores in Europe, and decided to bring a handpicked collection of kids furniture products, bedroom accessories, plush toys and books to Singapore.

The space seems small, in comparison to the store’s extensive collection. A majority of the furniture in the store, are sourced from Dutch brands like Kidsmill, Woood, and Bopita. When it comes to nursery design, my eye is always attracted to white, and I love all the furniture in chalk white. The lovely accessories at the store, can help you add a lively touch to the nursery, in any colour board of your choice.

Joyce is kind enough to allow me to style a corner of her store. This is a fun afternoon, and allows me to browse through products in her store, in greater detail. During the styling session, we rearrange pieces, to help bring my pink themed nursery to life.

Joyce also shares some tips when styling a nursery:

“Incorporate the panache of your home into your nursery décor. Whether your home’s interior style is contemporary, eclectic or modern rustic-chic, you can carry the styling into your nursery’s design, providing a calm environment for your newborn.

The key to decorating, is to determine a single point of focus: a treasured piece of furniture, for instance. In a nursery, this could be an heirloom lamp or a modern European-designed crib. Create a mood board, starting with a neutral color palette as the foundation. Then, select child-friendly accessories or décor, to complement the look and feel of your home.

It’s easy to go overboard – especially if you’re putting together your first nursery – with all of the furniture, décor and accessories. A neutral canvas for the room is an excellent starting point, as it reduces the need to redecorate, as your baby transitions into toddlerhood and beyond.”

Some accessories at the store that catch my eye:

This blue themed corner with plush toys from UK. The storage basket, available in colors other than blue are so versatile.

The color combination and lovely print of this kids bag sourced from a Dutch brand is lovely.

These plush toys all the way from England are so adorable. The different hues of these pineapple lamps from Germany are so cool.

The white swans from England, stand so tall and elegant. The light boxes from the Netherlands are perfect for older kids.

I love the classic patterned rugs from India too!

Make a trip to the store. Most of her products are irresistible.

Deer Industries is sponsoring a $50 dollar gift card to one My Red Palette reader to buy anything at the store. Please like their Facebook page and this post to participate.
