Chocolate makes everything better. I definitely agree.
Everyone in our household loves chocolate. My weakness for chocolate has perhaps passed on to my kids, who now have their own sweet preferences for chocolate. While my 5 year old son is a big fan of M&Ms, my daughter, who is older has a more refined taste, and likes trying out new types of chocolate.
We recently received a box of Laderach chocolates from a friend, and it took me back to my travels to Switzerland this summer. I remember walking past the Laderach store at Interlaken, ogling at all their yummy chocolates on display. From Laderach, Lindt, Toblerone, Confiserie Sprungli and Cailler, the Swiss definitely love their chocolate.

Laderach is a Swiss chocolate and confectionary brand based in Ennenda (Glarus). It was founded in 1962 by Rudolf Laderach. His patent for the process of manufacturing hollow, ready-made chocolate truffles revolutionized the chocolate industry. In 2004, Laderach acquired Merkur Confiserie, a well-established chocolate retailer and opened its first factory in Bilten – the Alps region. Today, Laderach operates 100 stores in 35 countries.
My favourite from their collection is the FrischSchoggi, literally translating to ‘fresh chocolate’, which is used to make all their products. The Frisch Schoggi barks are available in so many exciting flavours, making it so hard to pick a favourite.
What makes these chocolates so popular is their excellent texture. The chocolates have a luxurious feel, and once it melts in your mouth, you can taste the fruits, roasted nuts and other tid-bits that have been added to the chocolate. These barks are so large that you can’t enjoy all of it yourself – such a sweet way to encourage sharing.
Their praline and truffle boxes are equally popular and so tastefully packaged. They also have some lovely Christmas edition boxes for the festive season.
