Little by Little, Singapore

June 12, 2015 By: Preeti Khichacomment

Organic seems to be the buzzword when it comes to kids clothing. A lot of baby clothing companies today are moving away from harsh fabric, towards clothing that is kind to the skin and the environment.

Little by Little Singapore is one such sweet venture started by mommies and school besties, Kit Ong and Michelle Chen.

I get excited to hear that their clothing for babies and toddlers, are manufactured by a company based in India, which has received certification for practicing ethical standards in production. They go the extra length to make the packaging for their products organic too. The gift packaging is a recycled kraft box, which can be used as a photo frame!

I chat up with Kit, one afternoon where she tells me a little bit more about her passion. Her clothing is really soft to touch, almost makes me want to snuggle up and sleep in them. Without the jarring buttons and ribbons, she keeps things simple. What really melts the heart are the cheeky one-liners on the onesies: ‘getting my way’ and ‘extending my charm’, to name a few.

To have a diverse product mix, Kit also retails cute plush toys sourced from Netherlands and Turkey. Brands like Keptin-Jr and Charlie Banana are some of the brands in their kitty.

As a small business, Kit and Michelle focus on social media to spread the word. Facebook, ofcourse is a good way to reach out to fans and potential buyers.  They also recently revamped their website to make it more user-friendly.

Obviously, juggling kids and running the show has not been easy. Think work 24-7, where you take care of your kids and manage the business. The plus side is that you manage your own time, and of course the rewards from creating something of your own.

Still early days, Little by Little has leaps to grow.  Retail is perhaps the next big step, where Kit and Michelle want to showcase their products in brick-and mortar stores across the island. With their passion and dedication, I am sure they can achieve it all, little by little.
