Newton and the Apple, Nottingham UK: Quirky gifts

March 15, 2019 By: Preeti Khicha

I came across Newton and the Apple while hunting for gift-wrapping paper. I found the prints really unique: constellations, raindrops, geek binary, mountains and raindrops! When the company sent me samples of their paper, I was impressed. Beautiful prints aside, the quality of their paper is superb!

If you delve further into their website, you will come across some really unique products like stationery, greeting cards, and other bric-a-bracs. The founders (Gemma and Kerry) of Newton and the Apple have a background in auditory neuroscience and this is reflected in their eclectic product design.

The most interesting product on their website (and apparently a best seller) is the personalized sound wave print. Never heard of this one before! Check out their sound wave prints here: https://newtonandtheapple.com/collections/art-prints/products/personalised-your-voice-sound-wave-print

Sound art is simply taking a recording of any sound and transforming it into a visual representation of the sound in the format of a sound waveform. “Our customers have been really creative with this idea, using heartbeat recordings from ultrasound sessions, old voice messages from answer machines, the ‘vruummmm’ sound of their favourite car, the meow of their beloved cat… the possibilities are only limited by your imagination,” says Gemma, one of the founders of the company.

If you’re looking for something unique to gift, the products at Newton and the Apple might catch your eye.
