I am always on the lookout for unique finds for my home. I recently discovered this brand Pretti Cool while hunting for a soap dish for my wet kitchen. This brand based out of Houston, Texas (USA) has some super functional goods for the home.
Pretti Cool was started by husband and wife duo Kathrine Zeren Gilmer and Jeff Gilmer along with partners Mike Garman, Kari Breitigam and Erick Sandlin. Each of its founders have a background in art and design, and decided to get together to build a home goods brand with simplistic yet artistic products.

“We design and make most everything in-house. We obsess about our craftsmanship and pay a lot of attention to detail,” says Gilmer over an e-mail conversation.

Some of the products that I love from their portfolio are the paper towel holder with a terrazzo base. I also love their soap dishes – ergonomically designed to drain out the excess water. Their sponge rests in the unique rainbow shape, will add a smile to your face during dreary washing up days.

Also, check out their uniquely shaped toothbrush holders which appear lightweight and do not take up too much space on the bathroom counter.

Other stuff that I am eyeing are the sticky note holder and pencil tray – great finds to keep your desk organised.

The material used to fashion their products includes a blend of concrete that is lightweight yet sturdy. “The colours come from pigments that are actually blended into the mix, rather than painted or applied on top”, says Gilmer.
Since its inception in 2017, the brand has found in-roads into major US home retailers like West Elm and Nordstrom.
Their designs are inspired from the Bauhuas-inspired Memphis art style that was prevalent in popular culture during the 80s and 90s. Their products are fashioned with bright colours, geometric shapes and lines.
Pretty cool!
