Tucked away in the basement of Forum Mall in Orchard Road (Singapore), Supernature is a grocery store which is easy to miss. But families who are familiar with the store, regularly check in here for their grocery finds.
I visited the store one afternoon to check out the products on offer. Here are few that found its way in my grocery basket.
The first was the Kitchen Garden three fruit marmalade – lemon, oranges and grapefruit, something that I had never tried before. The taste was slightly different from conventional marmalade – much less sweeter than the traditional marmalade. I kind of enjoyed the bittersweet aftertaste. We enjoyed this with regular bread, but I’m sure the spread will pair well with sweet bread as well.
My favorites choices in my basket were the chocolate based products! I do have a weakness for chocolate, but these products are genuinely delicious. I experimented with the goji infused chocolate, purely to see how this much raved superfood would taste inside chocolate! This is supposed to be ‘healthy’ chocolate and the flavors of orange and goji taste delightful together. I also sampled many of the brand’s unique flavors like coconut locuma and date himalayan pink spot, but nothing hit the spot like this one!
The dark chocolate hazelnut spread is worth trying too. It has a nice creamy and smooth texture with a yummy chocolate taste, and I recommend it for days you are looking for an indulgent breakfast. I also tried the Fruit Fusion Superberry Blast, which is a delightful snack when you want to graze on something sweet and healthy. This berry mix also makes for wonderful addition to cereal and oatmeal.
I choose a few products from the non-food related sections. The Organic Young face wash was a winner on my list. A product originating from the UK, OY! is a gentle cleansing face wash perfect for sensitive skin. I liked its foaming texture, and also that it had no fragrance at all. A welcome change from the high perfumed face products that are marketed by many cosmetic and skincare brands.
Given the buzz around ‘organic’ household products, I decided to try the Ecover non-bio laundry liquid. This Belgian brand is definitely a little more expensive than the regular detergent brands, but touts itself as a product that is made with environment friendly ingredients. Compared to many regular detergent brands, this one is not piled with brighteners, but gives clothes a clean look. Definitely recommend this one, and I’m hoping to try some other household products from their range.
A few other products worth mentioning include: the Kiddylicious fruit wriggles. Kids will totally love it, and adults can get hooked on too!
I was a little wary about trying any of the new skincare products for children, as I currently use some brands that I am loyal to. They exclusively retail the Koala Baby range of organic products from Australia, and the store attendants told me their products are fab! The reviews of the brand on their Facebook page are good, so definitely worth a try. I tried the Koala Baby Supa Soft baby lotion on myself. It has a creamy texture, no fragrance and would perhaps work well on dry and sensitive baby skin.
Other products in my basket included the Kiwiherb de-stuff rub. This is a wonderful combination of peppermint, thyme and eucalyptus, and a balmy texture because of the coconut oil, olive oil and beeswax base. This is a soothing product if you have a nasal congestion.
They also have a fresh fruits and vegetables section, which I wasn’t too impressed with. Very expensive for the quality of its offerings!
Supernature is part of COMO Lifestyle, a subsidiary of Club 21, whose business include fashion retail Club 21 and the famous COMO hotels. In all, Supernature retails a decently curated range of products from different parts of the world. They have a whole lot more that they sell from soy based dairy products, pasta, lentils, juices, crisps, kitchen/laundry products and skin care products.
It is not the go-to grocery store, where you will find everything for your daily needs. However, if you happen to stop by, there will be a few interesting products that might catch your eye. Happy browsing!
Note: Thank you Supernature for sponsoring the $200 voucher. The product reviews are my own.
