My daughter has taken a recent fondness to playing board games. I stumbled upon this company Toy Tag while hunting for fun board games we could play together as a family.
I was mightily pleased to see the well-curated toy collection of this Singapore based virtual toy store! Each toy on the website is educational, allowing kids to learn important skills through play. At first glance, their vast collection of toys and games might overwhelm you. Therefore, it might be a good idea to spend an afternoon browsing through the website, to pick what’s best for your child.
They have everything from strategy games, musical toys, building and construction toys and so on. To make browsing easy, you can refine your search by age group or specific categories (tech and gizmo, brain, music etc).
After a quick search through the website, I decided to zero in on a marble run toy (something that I have been eyeing for my daughter for a long time). The company was kind enough to send me the HAPE toys Castle Escape. I was really happy with my choice and here’s why.
The marble run construction toy is excellent for preschoolers and school going children, as it allows them to focus and create something on their own. I watched my daughter make a few trial and errors, before we managed to put together the perfect structure.
Kids really need to concentrate while making the piece, before they can enjoy watching the marbles rolling down the rails, and sounding the bells. My daughter got upset a few times the structure fell over, but quickly figured out how to bring it all back together.
The toy is a great tool to teach your kids how to follow instructions and recognize shapes and colors. Kids need to maneuver the blocks in order to get the structure correct. A great way to learn problem solving! Also kids feel a huge sense of accomplishment once they learn how to put the structure together – helping build their self-confidence.
From a quality perspective, the toy is great. The blocks and bridges are wooden with soft edges that don’t hurt. The blocks are made from non-toxic recyclable material making it safe for kids.
Besides the marble run, I also ordered a touch and feel book called B. Peek-A-Books for my son. This cloth book is perfect for my little one, particularly at a time when he’s discovering and figuring out his world by putting everything in his mouth. It is also perfect for infants who are teething, as the book can be washed and reused several times, without the hassle of chewed or jagged edges.
B Toys has done well in attaching a ring to the cloth book. It allows babies to learn how to strengthen their grasping reflex. My son also decided to use the ring as a teether on a few occasions! The ring also doubles up as a clip, which can be used to hang the book to a stroller or car set.
The unique activities on each page of the soft book are super-cute. My son smiled with joy as he watched me squeak the duck and crinkle the leaf. He will probably enjoy the book a lot more when he is sitting and can interact with the different pages of the book himself.
In all, this short and sweet book is the perfect addition to an infant’s toy repertoire. It serves multiple purposes: perfect for tummy time, meal times and while going on joy rides on the stroller. Mamas, you definitely can’t go wrong with this buy.
The unique mix of toys and games at Toy Tag won’t disappoint. Whether you are looking for a birthday present or just activities to keep your little ones busy, you will be spoilt for choice. I can’t wait to continue browsing! Who doesn’t want to be a kid again?
